At the end of 2020 we started a series of online conversations with Spanish-speaking people from different sectors. We want to make visible and present experiences of professionals from different specialties, to know and share their reflections on what it means to be a migrant in their respective fields and to discuss the strategies that in each case have proven to be most fruitful. We talked with experts on topics that we consider central to the migrant population in Germany, such as municipal and migration policies, the research system and the German health system and, finally, the space that German trade unions offer to migrants to defend their rights in the world of work.
The second edition of our conversation series began in January 2022. Also on this occasion, we wanted to put a face to the diversity of the social and political engagement of Spanish speakers in Germany and create a space to learn from the experiences shared by our guests. These examples of activism and commitment allowed us to identify collective and individual strategies to conquer spaces for participation. On this occasion we were joined by two members of the Bundestag, a journalist and a migration expert from one of the largest German Third Sector organizations.
